Accurate, balanced evidence-based information about medicines
NPS has a field force of more than 150 NPS Facilitators working in Divisions and Networks of General Practice around Australia.
In addition there are 130 volunteer Seniors Peer Educators trained by the Council On The Ageing (COTA).
NPS Facilitators, with their links with health professionals in their own communities, are one of the strengths of our program for health professionals. NPS facilitators play a key role in promoting our activities to doctors, pharmacists practice nurses and other health professionals in their local areas. Their role includes:
Our facilitators come from a range of healthcare backgrounds including pharmacy, nursing and medicine. We support them with face-to-face training, planned program of teleconferences and monthly newsletter, a website to access program resources, other written communication, an annual 1-2 day forum and on-site visits.
Our Seniors Peer Educators volunteer their time to help seniors in their local communities learn more about medicines and taking a more active role in their own medicine use, including empowering them to ask questions of their doctor and pharmacist. The Peer Educators attend training held in partnership with the Council On The Ageing (COTA), and then run information sessions with seniors in their community.
