Health professionals resources

Building healthy bones and preventing fractures are key to managing osteoporosis (brittle bones). It includes maintaining bone health throughout the lifespan by ensuring adequate calcium in the diet, vitamin D and physical activity.

Preventing fractures requires a multifaceted approach, including identifying the range of risk factors for fractures, bone loss and falls. This approach to assessing fracture risk allows interventions, including anti-osteoporotic drugs, to be targeted to those most at risk of osteoporotic fracture.
