NPS works in partnership with the COTA organisations to deliver free medicines information sessions to seniors groups.

If you're part of a community group or know a group of people who would like to learn about their medicines, COTA can work with you to run free, interactive medicines information sessions.

Introduction to Quality Use of Medicines (QUM)

This session will help you learn:

• how to get better results from the medicines you take
• how to avoid medicine mix-ups, and
• what you can do to enjoy better health.

Brand name or generic medicine – choosing wisely

This generic medicines session complements the introductory session on QUM.

This session will help you learn:

• a generic medicine has the same active ingredient as the original brand of medicine
• to get to know your medicine choices
• there are many generic medicines available - so you may often be asked to make a choice
• in Australia all prescription medicines, including generic medicines, have to meet the same stringent Government quality standards
• to talk openly to your or pharmacist about generic medicines
