Prescribing Data in General Practice Demonstration Project

The Prescribing Data in General Practice Demonstration (PDGPD) Project is a quality improvement activity that we have developed in collaboration with the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) for general practitioners and practices. A data extraction tool is used by general practitioners to review their prescribing against clinical indicators to help in optimising patient management.

This demonstration project has been developed in two clinical areas: hypertension and chronic heart failure, and will be undertaken in a select number of general practices across Australia which will be supported by their local general practice networks.

Successful divisions were notified in June 2009. Twenty divisions will be participating in the project, involving 180 practices.

Further information can be found on the AGPN website at Prescribing Data in General Practice.
