Hydroxocobalamin (Goldshield Hydroxocobalamin) has been temporarily PBS listed to provide an alternative to the currently listed product (Neo-Cytamen) while it is in short supply.1 The maximum quantity of hydroxocobalamin has been temporarily increased from 3 to 5 ampoules — about 1 year's supply. For prevention of vitamin B12 deficiency, hydroxocobalamin 1000 micrograms should be given every 2-3 months.
