They are approved as add-on therapy in combination with either metformin or a sulfonylurea in patients poorly controlled with metformin, a sulfonylurea or a thiazolidinedione. The RADAR article on gliptins has been updated to reflect the listing of another gliptin. Saxagliptin was added to the PBS on 1 June 2011.
