Becoming an NPS member organisation

Benefits of being a member

There are a number of benefits to being a member organisation of NPS. All member organisations:

  • have the opportunity to vote on the makeup of the NPS Board and at the AGM
  • are invited to join relevant NPS Board meetings
  • receive outcomes papers from the NPS Board meetings
  • have the opportunity to take part in formal NPS planning and strategic meetings
  • have the opportunity to work in collaboration with NPS on programs and activities
  • have the opportunity to put forward representatives for our committees and working groups
  • have access to evaluation reports and research documents
  • receive regular Member e-news
  • have the opportunity to make contributions to Member e-news
  • are profiled and linked on the NPS website
  • have the opportunity to contribute to the NPS website about their QUM activities, conferences and other events
  • are offered endorsement of specific or relevant programs and activities
  • are kept informed about NPS activities
  • have access to a direct contact at NPS who can progress any requests and promote their needs.

Criteria for becoming a member

To become a member of NPS your organisation needs to meet the following criteria:

  • have a commitment to Quality Use of Medicines principles
  • have aims and objectives congruent with aims and objectives of NPS
  • have a membership base that is representative of one or more stakeholder group(s) for QUM
  • have a commitment to working in partnership
  • undertake to support the National Medicines Policy, particularly with respect to quality use and access.

As a member of NPS your organisation will have a responsibility to:

  • include QUM in the organisation's documentation (e.g. strategic plan)
  • engage with other partners to progress QUM issues
  • nominate individuals for NPS Working Groups
