20 May 2010

The National Medicines Symposium (NMS) 2010 is held at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Australia on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 26 May 4–6pm
  • Thursday 27 May 9am–5.30pm
  • Friday 28 May 9am–4pm

Professor Jim Bishop AO, Australia's Chief Medical Officer, will officially open the National Medicines Symposium on Wednesday 26 May.

This biennial event, hosted by the National Prescribing Service, is a unique forum that brings together everyone involved with medicines use including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, specialists, consumers, policy makers, academics and international experts.

It transcends health industry silos and provides those working at the coalface the opportunity to share expertise, experience and opinion, and benefit from discussion with their peers.

The theme of NMS 2010 is 'Medicines in people’s lives', which enables us to address medicines use issues in the wider context of changes within the health sector, including reforms and new prescribers.

NMS 2010 will include a number of panel sessions with key opinion leaders addressing political issues, as well as in-depth clinical presentations from leading clinicians and academics.

There will also be a number of presentations about health issues facing the general public and some of the steps being taken to address these problems.

Speakers will be available for interviews after their presentations in the designated media room on level 1.

For a list of the speakers please see the program available at www.nms2010.org.au
