Dr Roger Boyd, Chairman of National Prescribing Service Limited (NPS) has today announced the appointment of Dr Ross Maxwell as Director of the Board. The appointment of Dr Maxwell fills the General Practitioner class vacancy following Dr Richard Abbott’s resignation.
“I am delighted at the excellent response to the call for nominations to fill the NPS director position,” said Dr Boyd. “The NPS Board Nominations Committee considered each candidate against the criteria distributed to member organisations and interviewed a short list of candidates.”
“Dr Ross Maxwell brings with him 18 years of experience in General Practice, with a strong rural and regional medicine focus. The NPS Board looks forward to Dr Maxwell’s experience and contribution to our work supporting best practice prescribing throughout Australia.”
Dr Maxwell is the immediate past President of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia and maintains an active membership of his local Division of General Practice and the AMA Queensland. He is currently on the Board and Treasurer of Health WorkForce Queensland and Chair of their Risk Management Committee.
“I am very pleased to join the Board of NPS, and I hope that my experience of working in rural medicine will add a fresh perspective and dimension to NPS’s outreach work in various Australian communities. I look forward to the next two years and the positive impact of quality use of medicines in rural practice,” said Dr Maxwell.
“The NPS Board would like to thank all member organisations that provided nominations. The level of interest was outstanding and it is particularly pleasing that such well qualified candidates are keen to contribute to NPS and quality use of medicines,” concluded Dr Boyd.
