Dr Kay Price will begin her directorship on the board of the  National Prescribing Service Limited (NPS) on Monday 27 October.

Dr Price joins the board with a wealth of experience in the health sector. She is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of South Australia and has been a member of the Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Council (APAC) and an active participant on the Council’s working parties including Complementary Medicines Working Party, Brand Substitution Working Party and CMI Working Party.

Dr Price is an experienced and active qualitative researcher. She is a past recipient of a Pharmaceutical Health and Rational Use of Medicines project grant and has been successful in National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council nationally funded research projects.

Her specific expertise is critical analytical skills, analysis of health care and education services, working in collaboration across different groups, and managing complexity. She is a Chief Investigator on the North West Adelaide Health (Cohort) Study - a longitudinal, representative population biomedical cohort study established to examine chronic diseases and lifestyle risk factors.

Dr Price takes over from Dr Susan Hunt, who has served on the board since October 2002.

“We are very pleased to welcome Kay Price to the NPS board. She brings with her invaluable industry experience, particularly in the areas of complementary medicine and brand substitution, which are contemporary issues in health,” CEO, Lynn Weekes, said.

“At the same time we are farewelling Sue Hunt after six years of service. On behalf of the board I would like to thank Sue for her ongoing contribution to the NPS and work around quality use of medicines, which has been instrumental in developing policy to ensure the future health of Australians.”
