About Medicine Update
Helping you make informed choices about new medicines
When it comes to new medicines, how do you decide if 'new' is 'better'? All medicines have possible harms as well as benefits, but you'll be in a better position to decide about taking a new medicine if you ask:
- how well does it work?
- what are the potential side effects?
- how does it compare to other treatments?
- is it likely to be suitable for me?
Usually published three times per year, Medicine Update helps you to answer these questions about new PBS listing and other new medicines. Each issue is about a different medicine likely to be of interest to consumers.
Medicine Update is based on an independent assessment of current information and research conducted by NPS in consultation with consumers and health professionals.
Always talk to your general practitioner, specialist, pharmacist or other qualified health professional when making decisions about medicines.
