NPS Evaluation team

The purpose of our Evaluation team is to apply rigorous evaluation approaches to NPS work to support ongoing decision-making within the organisation and ultimately, to sustain the provision of a national Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) program.

NPS evaluation is a process based on 6 key elements:

  • negotiating an evaluation plan
  • collecting data
  • analysing, interpreting and making judgments about data
  • writing and agreeing to recommendations
  • disseminating evaluation information
  • utilising evaluation findings.

To ensure rigorous methodology, an expert advisory group oversees the evaluation. External consultants are commissioned where appropriate to ensure credibility of the evaluation processes and to ensure analysis and interpretation of evaluation data is objective and conducted without bias.

The NPS evaluation framework reflects the evaluation needs and plan for NPS for 2009 to 2013. It is a dynamic document that will be updated regularly to ensure it:

  • accommodates new methodological possibilities and limitations as they become apparent
  • addresses the evaluation needs of the organisation that continue to change in content, complexity and scope
  • reflects changes in the broader QUM policy and the prescribing environment.
