Abstracts are now being invited for two of the pre-eminent healthcare events of 2021, both to be held in May in an entirely virtual format.
The National Medicines Symposium (NMS) 2021
will be held on Tuesday 18 May, directly followed by the 2021 Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting, to be held on Wednesday 19 May.
NPS MedicineWise CEO Adj A/Prof Steve Morris says the two meetings will each offer a different but complementary perspective on key issues facing the health sector.
“The theme for NMS 2021 is Evaluating quality use of medicines: How do we know if we are making a difference. Within this theme we will be discussing collaboration with impact, measurement in practice, evaluating systems-based approaches to the quality use of medicines, and innovations in measurement,” said Mr Morris.
“Evidence is the basis of the way we deliver healthcare to get the best possible outcomes. The focus of NMS this year is the measurement of what we are doing in quality use of medicines, so we can ask the question ‘Can we do better, and how?’.
“The Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting has the theme Empowering consumers to choose wisely, and within this the program will incorporate building consumer confidence in shared decision making, health professionals leading by example, impact of ‘the conversation’, and changing culture in organisations and systems.
“The focus of this year’s National Meeting is on empowering consumers and supporting health professionals to be champions for changing the conversations in our health system so that people only receive care that is evidence-based and truly necessary,” said Mr Morris.
Presenting at NMS 2021 or the Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting is an opportunity to spark discussion and showcase your work with an audience of experts from across Australia. Abstract submissions are invited for each event for lightning talks and e-posters.
