Registrations are now open for the upcoming National Medicines Symposium (NMS) 2020 to be hosted by NPS MedicineWise as a completely virtual event on Monday 7 December.
With the symposium theme Rising to the medication safety challenge, the new National Health Priority Area of medicine safety and the World Health Organisation’s Global Patient Safety Challenge of ‘Medication Without Harm’ will be front and centre at NMS 2020.
The all-day event has streams focussing on
- Use of medication without harm,
- Sharing insights from consumer experiences,
- Clinical innovations to meet new challenges,
- Potential for Collaborating to drive impact, and
- Improving medicines literacy.
All streams will be recorded and can be viewed later for people who missed them live.
Much-loved Australian comedian Tim Ferguson will MC the event, which will also feature speakers Prof Alex Broom, Dr Amanda Wheeler and Prof Clara Chow.
“This cross-disciplinary event seeks to engage and mobilise key organisations, individuals and decision makers in the health sector around the significant quality use of medicines challenge of medication safety,” said NPS MedicineWise CEO Adj A/Prof Steve Morris.
“Through debates of key issues and showcasing examples of potential solutions, lessons learned and new ways of thinking, the program for this event will encourage a collaborative approach to medication safety which is focussed on the needs of the consumer.”
“Importantly in the current pandemic climate, this digital event will enable attendance by people from across the health sector and across Australia,” he said.
The virtual event will have all the program features of past NMS events including concurrent sessions as well as lightning talks and panel discussions. An innovative online platform will encourage digital networking and interaction between participants and presenters throughout the day.
Registration is now open at $100 for the full day online event.
Registered participants will also be able to access recordings of all presentations for three weeks post-event.
