What is in this leaflet

Please read this leaflet carefully before you start to use your medicine. It answers some common questions about Crystaderm cream.

What CRYSTADERM cream is used for and how it works

Your medicine is called Crystaderm cream 1%. It is a smooth white pearly cream.

Crystaderm is for the treatment and prevention of infection in minor cuts, wounds and scrapes.

Crystaderm cream has a broad spectrum antibacterial action (it is active against many types of bacteria). It acts by destroying essential components of the cells of these organisms.

The active ingredient of Crystaderm cream is hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of 1% w/w.

If you are concerned about any aspect of your treatment with Crystaderm cream, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Advice before using Crystaderm cream

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients of Crystaderm cream listed at the end of this leaflet.

Crystaderm cream should not be used in the presence of iodine, permanganate and any other strong oxidising agents.

How to use Crystaderm cream

Follow your doctor or pharmacists instructions. Always check the label for directions on how to use your medicine. Your doctor or pharmacist will help you if you are not sure.

Crystaderm cream is for external use only

The wound should be cleansed with water and a mild soap before applying CRYSTADERM cream. It should be applied 2-3 times a day or when needed, to the affected areas. A dry film may appear on the skin after application; this can easily be washed off with water.

Take care to avoid contact with the eyes. If Crystaderm should accidentally get into your eyes, wash it out immediately with plenty of cold water.

If you forget to apply a dose, do so as soon as you remember and then go on as before.

Side effects

Crystaderm cream is generally well tolerated and not associated with any serious side effects.

However a mild sensation of burning or stinging may be experienced for a short time after application.

If you experience prolonged irritation of the skin, or any other ill effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist and ask if you should continue with your medication.

Storage

Store below 25°C

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children

Do not keep/ use this medicine when no longer needed or after its expiry date.

Ingredients

CRYSTADERM cream contains hydrogen peroxide 1% w/w as the active ingredient.

CRYSTADERM cream also contains glyceryl laurate, glyceryl myristate, PEG-100 stearate, propylene glycol, citric acid anhydrous, sodium hydroxide, sulphuric acid, sodium oxalate, salicylic acid, disodium edetate, sodium pyrophosphate, sodium stannate and purified water.
