This program will deliver a national and coordinated approach, helping PHNs support a range of immunisation providers, including GPs, nurse immunisers, community health clinics, Aboriginal Medical Services, local councils and pharmacies. This will enable them to deliver immunisation programs to their patients and communities, consistent with the Australian Immunisation Handbook and National Immunisation Program (NIP).
Phase 1 – by November 2017
Complete a systematic consultation process with PHNs, includng an initial teleconference with each PHN and other key stakeholders.
Undertake research to explore the current landscape, the challenges, support needs and priorities of PHNs.
Conduct a co-design process with PHNs, governments and other key immunisation stakeholders to address identified gaps.
Phase 2 – by March 2018
Implement framework for supporting PHNs, focusing on education, resources and mechanisms for ongoing peer-to-peer communication, consultation and support for PHNs.
