From 1 January 2013 the Durotram XR brand (tramadol extended release) has been deleted from the list of drugs subsidised on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).1 It remains available in Australia by private prescription. Other tramadol formulations are available on the PBS for patients requiring treatment for pain.
