Privacy and confidentiality – Clinical e-Audits

Privacy and confidentiality information for those participating in Clinical e-Audits

Clinical e-Audits are educational and quality improvement activities to enable review of current practice, peer comparison and self reflection to identify improvements in practice. Participants receive individual and aggregate results of all participants for two rounds of data collection and an expert commentary on aggregate results.

NPS MedicineWise collects your personal information for the purpose of enabling you to complete a Clinical e-Audit. These Privacy and Confidentiality terms and conditions sets out information about how we safeguard your privacy in relation to the Clinical e-Audit and the confidentiality of your patient data. Our more comprehensive Privacy Policy which sets out how NPS MedicineWise manages all personal information is available on our website.

NPS MedicineWise takes privacy seriously and at all times we comply with the Privacy Act and any relevant state and territory privacy legislation.

Refer to additional details for data assisted Clinical e-Audits via Precedence Connector or via MedicineInsight program.

How is patient privacy protected?

NPS MedicineWise has provided you with data retrieval features of data assisted Clinical e-Audits to make it easy for you to identify your patients who may require changes to their management and subsequent review. If you choose to use the data retrieval features, then the names are automatically populated for the individual patients you select from an automatically generated patient list.

To ensure the highest level of security and confidentiality, patient names are encrypted with a key that is generated from your password before the patient names are stored in the NPS MedicineWise database. The types of encryption used means that NPS MedicineWise is unable to access or decrypt this data, resulting in NPS MedicineWise not being able to access the patients' names or identify your patients. You can change your login password at any time and still retain this information.

We recommend that you choose a password of sufficient length and complexity (for example at least 8 characters long, including lowercase and uppercase alphabetic characters, numbers and symbols). It is your obligation to ensure your password is kept confidential and that you do not share your password with any other party, including NPS MedicineWise. If you forget your password, it can be reset by clicking on the ‘Reset Password’ link from the login screen.
