Niall: Organising and storing medicines – Safety as the primary consideration

Listen to patients and health professionals speak about their experience with taking multiple medicines.

Niall
Male
Age at interview: 45
Number of medicines: 7
Cultural background: British (Caucasian)

Niall keeps his medicines where he can see them but also where it is safe for his daughter and others.

Niall:

I have a young daughter but she also has two older brothers and so med safety has always been sort of part of our household routine, when we were a household. Even now, it's about keeping them safe. It’s keeping them in a warm, dry place or a cool, dry place, not damp … it’s about making sure they're safe for me too, as well as keeping them out of harm's way for other people. It's appropriate storage ... safe storage.

Jacqueline:

When you say it's visible storage, what do you mean by that?

Niall:

It's at a height where I can see it, but other people can't reach it.
