Perindopril arginine with indapamide (Coversyl Plus) was PBS listed on 1 May 2007. In late 2006, perindopril preparations (Coversyl) changed to a new formulation — from perindopril erbumine to perindopril arginine, with the erbumine salt being phased out during 2007 (see In Briefs, August 2006). Until recently the combination preparation perindopril with indapamide (Coversyl Plus) still contained the erbumine salt.
Although the strength differs with the new formulation, the two preparations are bioequivalent — that is, perindopril arginine 5 mg with indapamide 1.25 mg is bioequivalent to perindopril erbumine 4 mg with indapamide 1.25 mg. There is no difference in appearance between the two Coversyl Plus formulations.
